Our impact

People, places and the planet are at the heart of our impact targets where we aim to create positive change and have a positive impact. The past year (2023) was successful in achieving our social impact goals and objectives and for many areas we recorded record breaking numbers for our charity. Below demonstrates our impact in 2023:

2,023 trees planted

We planted 2,023 trees in 2022 as part of our ‘Plant Trees Plant Hope’ campaign in a bid to build biodiversity, combat climate change and create green spaces in our local community.

250 hours of Green Therapy

20 local individuals who are inactive or long term unemployed, experiencing social isolation and/or poor wellbeing, improved confidence and gained skills and knowledge in horticulture and sustainability through our gardening project.

13 corporate supporters

Thirteen companies engaged their staff in our Green Team Events and corporate volunteering days as part of their CSR commitments, ESG strategy and volunteering schemes.

12 veg growing families

We created a vegetable plot at Meon Vale Allotment with 12 families and members of the local community to give them the opportunity to grow their own veg just a stone’s throw away from their homes.

15 Prince’s Trust Volunteers

A community project helped 15 Prince’s Trust volunteers learn new skills and enhance their employability.

249 volunteers

We have 192 volunteers registered on our volunteer management system who have given their time to help our charity in a number of projects.

750 kg of fruit and veg donated

From apple/fruit picking at local orchards and growing our own veg though our Harvest Share project, we could donate 750 kg of fruit and veg to local community care homes, hospitals and animal shelters to help those in need and reduce food waste.

16,000m2 of wildflower meadow seeded

We seeded a large area of the ‘Field of Life’ within our nature reserve with a wildflower seed mix and it will now become a wildflower meadow to add colour and beauty as well as the nectar-rich plants helping to support dwindling populations of native pollinators.

3 Barn Owl chicks

Following the success of erecting a Barn Owl box at our nature reserve last year to provide habitat for Barn Owls and build biodiversity at our Field of Life, we had another 3 chicks inhabiting the box.

1 meeting space refurbished

A major achievement and investment this year has been at our nature reserve with the refurbishment of The Picket Post building as we transformed it into an off grid meeting and therapy space for both community and corporate use.

2,652 volunteer hours

A record total of 2,652 volunteer hours were recorded helping individuals learn new skills, meet new people and give back.

15 individuals helped through programme

We supported 15 individuals with mild to moderate learning difficulties from Welcombe Hills School alongside ThinkForward to provide horticultural and environmental activities and learning designed to improve their soft skills, communication, teamwork, independence and self-confidence.

1 hospital garden created

We created Heathcote Garden at Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital to provide somewhere enclosed and secluded, for NHS staff to meet, enjoy and relax in the outdoors to boost their wellbeing.

10 individuals supported

We ran a ‘Gardening Club’ at Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton to provide a support group for those in the local community experiencing bereavement. They helped plant and maintain the gardens and create new habitats to boost biodiversity and support more wildlife.

68,000 people reached through social media

We helped spread the message of health and wellbeing, biodiversity and sustainability through our social media channels by reaching over 68,000 people in 2023.
