Green Therapy

What is our green therapy group?

On a Tuesday (10am-1pm) and Friday (11am-2pm) we run a programme called ‘Green Therapy’ at Stratford-Upon-Avon Hospital, which is a Horticultural Therapy Group for individuals who are inactive or long term unemployed, experiencing social isolation and/or poor wellbeing.

We use gardening to help with individual’s personal growth and support them to thrive as gardening is incredibly beneficial for both physical and mental health. The group offers a non-judgemental safe space to meet others whilst doing such positive community work that really does make a difference.

The Green Therapy programme includes:

  • Volunteering and work placement opportunities at a range of garden projects.

  • Purposeful activities at the Kitchen Garden, Garden of Wellbeing at Stratford upon Avon Hospital, and other gardens.

  • Skills training leading to a recognised horticulture qualification.

  • Environmental education.

  • 1-1 coaching and support to increase confidence and motivation.

  • Social events and networking events with other local community groups.

  • Advice and guidance on routes to self-employment/employment and progression onto other learning opportunities
