Tree planting with STAG

We were proud to be supporting tree planting with Snitterfield Tree Action Group (STAG) as they ran their inaugural community tree planting event day at the weekend.

The memorable day saw residents of Snitterfield village and surrounding areas plant trees to create hedgerow in a popular community green space owned by Snitterfield Parish Council.

Around 100 volunteers of all ages, socially distanced, got over 400 trees into the ground in 2 planting sessions during the day.

The native species hedgerow will not only provide a picturesque perimeter around the playground area, but the diverse range of plant life in the hedges can also help combat climate change by storing carbon in their vegetation and provide habitat for a number of local wildlife species.

With a thought-out maintenance plan in place with neighbours providing their time and resources to water and care for the saplings, the hedgerow will now grow and thrive, creating lasting change.

A perfect end to the tree planting season as we all pack away our spades, bamboo canes and spiral guards until November when the season starts again and we continue our ‘Plant Trees Plant Hope’ campaign.
