Meon Vale Community Allotment Project

We recently created a vegetable garden at an allotment in Meon Vale with members of the local community as part of a project to help get them growing their own food.

We spent a day putting the plot together by laying weed suppressant material, positioning the veg beds, filling them with peat-free compost and finishing the area around them with bark chippings.

We then spent another day bringing the community together at the allotment to sow veg seeds, with each family taking ownership of a bed and getting one of our ‘grow your own veg kits’ to start them off.

It was great to see so many people of all ages enthusiastic to grow their own vegetables and we look forward to seeing all their growing progress and success over the coming weeks.
