Welcombe Hills School MoveForward Project - Week 4

This week’s MoveForward session with Welcombe Hills School was in our gardens at Stratford-Upon-Avon hospital. The group got stuck into lots of horticultural and garden maintenance tasks and fulfilled many of their learning outcomes and criteria towards their Open Awards Qualification Unit for ‘sowing and growing plants’ and to ‘prepare and plant an area’.

Tasks completed on the day:

  • Watering & filling up all self-watering planters

  • A litter pick to tidy up the areas outside the hospital

  • Pruning the Lavender in the Garden of Wellbeing

  • Weeding the raised beds

  • Taking cuttings of Sedum from the living walls to propagate and grow for future living walls

  • Preparing an area, digging and planting Spring bulbs

  • Planting a bulb lasagne in pots containing Daffodils, Iris & Snowdrop bulbs

It was another very productive afternoon of activities accompanied by hot chocolates to keep us all going. Next week we will be at The Hideaway to create Fruit Tree Guilds in our new orchard area.
