Volunteering Days with Cadent Gas' Strategy & Regulation Team
Through our partnership with Neighbourly we could facilitate another two volunteering days with Cadent Gas. After previously working with their Finance, Audit & Risk and Operations teams, we had the pleasure of being joined by their Strategy and Regulation team.
The group of 6 and group of 8 helped out on consecutive Wednesdays in August as part of their company volunteering scheme which gives employees an allowance of 2 volunteer days each year and we are so grateful they chose us.
Our nature reserve was the venue for both events and there were plenty of tasks for our eager volunteers to get their hands dirty.
In preparation for our field to be mown and the bales collected to feed cattle, it was priority to pull up the remaining Ragwort and many individuals showed off their pulling power by clearing the field making it ready to cut.
After rescuing outdoor furniture from being thrown away and in line with our sustainable practices there were benches, chairs and tables to be upcycled and a fantastic job was done to refurbish them and bring them back to their former glory.
Gardening tasks included lots of strimming, weeding and planting up our butterfly bank with pollinator rich plants to grow and attract a number of butterfly species as part of a biodiversity action plan for Warwickshire.
Tools were at the ready to build our geodesic dome and install 2 gazebos to offer shade on site as well as having fun with our giant Lego set to create a picturesque sofa.
We really appreciate all the hard work and effort from both groups and it’s with volunteer groups like this one that we can create such a positive change in such a short space of time.
