Our New Gardening Club at Rosalind Court

A Green Initiative with a Purpose

As part of a new initiative, we recently added raised bed planters made from recycled railway sleepers at Rosalind Court in Stratford-upon-Avon. This project marks the beginning of a new Green Therapy group, bringing together staff and residents in a shared effort to create and maintain garden spaces and community spirit.

These planters provide a sturdy and rustic charm, perfect for growing a variety of plants, from vibrant flowers to pollinator friendly plants to attract bees and butterflies. The use of recycled materials also very much aligns with our commitment to sustainability and innovation in gardening practices.

After moving the sleepers to the garden and positioning them, we fixed them with brackets and filled them with peat-free compost ready to invite the group to enjoy a therapeutic and satisfying planting session.

The introduction of these planters at Rosalind Court is more than just a gardening project, it’s a therapeutic journey. The Green Therapy group aims to offer residents a chance to engage in meaningful activities that promote mental and physical well-being with gardening being shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and create a sense of accomplishment and purpose.

The gardening club will now run on the third Friday of every month 1.30pm-3pm.
