Grafton PLC at Forest of Hearts
We welcomed a team from Grafton PLC to our corporate events space and nature reserve for a focused morning of environmental activities, team engagement, and discussion.
We started the morning with an engaging Impact Quiz designed to encourage reflection on environmental topics and biodiversity in a relaxed way. The group then crafted individual bug and bee hotels using and mix of wood offcuts, recycled material and natural materials like pinecones and teasel, combining creativity with sustainability. Some proudly took their handmade creation home, boosting biodiversity in their own gardens, while others generously donated theirs to be installed along a peaceful fence in a hospice garden we created - each one offering vital refuge for insects and pollinators across these green spaces.
They also took part in a biodiversity audit of our wildflower meadow, helping to monitor local plant and insect life and carefully collected Yellow Rattle seed which will be planted next season to help naturally suppress dominant grasses and create space for a wider variety of native species to thrive.
Lunch was provided by Kusina Kitchen, offering a simple, well-received meal of sandwiches, pastries and cakes.
The day wrapped up with a team meeting in a natural setting, offering peace and tranquillity whilst they discussed business topics and bonded further. We appreciated their hands-on approach to environmental matters and interest in what we do. It’s always encouraging to see organisations taking positive steps towards environmental responsibility.
We also give a further thank you to Grafton PLC for organising the generous sponsorship of wooden sleepers from Selco, helping us create raised beds in a new green space at Stratford Hospital - bringing wellbeing and nature closer to staff and patients alike.
