Environmental Team Building Day with Monumo
Thirty employees from Monumo, a leading deeptech engineering company dedicated to creating the world's best electric motors, joined us at our nature reserve and corporate events venue for an action-packed Green Team Event themed around "growth".
It was a day full of fun, teamwork, and environmentally themed activities that got both their Coventry and Cambridge offices together in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside to achieve a common purpose.
Bird Box and Bug & Bee Hotel Building Bonanza
One of their tasks was to create bird boxes to take home and put up in their gardens or community green spaces. Armed with hammers, wood, nails and enthusiasm, Monumo’s team put together thirty little homes for our feathered friends. These bird boxes will now offer sanctuaries to many species of birds and contribute to the overall biodiversity of the areas they are erected.
They also crafted bug and bee hotels using recycled, waste and natural materials, helping to create vital habitats and promote biodiversity in the hospital and hospice gardens they are being donated to.
Plant Pots and Propagation
They also got crafty with recycled newspapers, turning them into functioning plant pots. These little pots are both good for the planet and a great way to start growing new plants. After filling them with peat-free compost and a mix of different seeds, these pots are now on their way to becoming the newest additions to our polytunnel to germinate and grow and when established, one of our community gardens.
Monumo’s green fingers didn’t stop there. The team also got involved in propagating Rosemary cuttings sourced from various plants around the reserve.
Lunch
Everybody relished a well-deserved break, enjoying fresh stone-baked pizza from Luca Loves Pizza and delightful soup from Kusina Kitchen. This was also the perfect stoppage to engage in conversation and catch up with colleagues over a tea or coffee.
Tree Planting Party
To end the day and to leave a lasting mark, the group planted trees to complete the Hawthorn hedgerow around our orchard area and added six large Cherry trees to the ever growing space. They didn’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and get digging, planting a total of 156 trees which will have such a positive impact.
