Another Great Volunteering Day with Cadent Gas

We were pleased to be joined again by the finance team from Cadent Gas for their third volunteering day with us and their second at our nature reserve near Stratford-upon-Avon.

On their previous visit, the group helped us to construct the formation of a butterfly bank using top soil and this time continued its creation by adding subsoil excavated from the pond. We then added Cotswold stone to the sides of the butterfly bank to help protect the area from encroaching grass and thistles and to provide warm spots for butterflies to pause and bask in the sunshine.

In the newly created garden area, they planted seven tall Elaeagnus Pleached trees to produce a picturesque evergreen screen along the top of the fence.

The tree planting team infilled the hedgerow along the outer edge of the field with Hawthorn trees to allow it to grow fuller and provide many habitats for wildlife.

Cadent’s volunteer scheme gives employees an allowance of two volunteer day each year, so we are very grateful they once again chose to support us and for all their hard work.
