Welcombe Hills School MoveForward Project - Week 1

We enjoyed a brilliant first Nature Positive session with Welcombe Hills sixth form at Stratford Sports Club. After a quick briefing and introduction to the 12-week programme, the group grabbed their gardening gloves and tools and got stuck into their horticultural tasks of the day.

They did a fantastic job planting up the living walls with succulents, adding colourful plants to the wooden planters and trimming the hedges around the cricket pitch.

Whilst at the sports club we also took a tour of the grounds with the groundskeeping apprentice Alexia, to talk about careers, volunteering and sporting opportunities they provide, which was food for thought for the whole group.

Feedback from the Sports Club

“We loved having the group from Welcombe Hills school come to the Sports Club today. The planting they did has made the area so bright and colourful and they were a great help to me completing my jobs at the cricket pitch”
