Welcombe Hills School MoveForward Project - Week 5
The Welcombe Hills school group joined us at our five-acre nature reserve ‘The Hideaway’ just outside Stratford-upon-Avon for their fifth MoveForward session where they turned their hand at all things gardening,
After being placed into groups they got busy with an array of green fingered tasks to learn horticultural skills to be able to apply to their own gardens and take forward to possible employment at landscape gardening companies, should they choose that career path.
Gardening tasks included:
Mowing and strimming the garden area
Weeding the garden
Planting bulbs to help beautify the area come Spring
Digging a border ready to plant up
Creating 2 fruit tree guilds in the orchard area
Watering the garden, the potted ivies and the fruit tree guilds - using rainwater harvesting water butts
Attending to the composter
