A Team Effort in the Gardens at Stratford Hospital with NFU Mutual

Keeping the Momentum Going

We recently welcomed another fantastic group of volunteers from NFU Mutual to our garden spaces at Stratford-upon-Avon Hospital. It was great to see some familiar faces of those who had volunteered with us before, and even better to see how they all completed tasks previously started by colleagues at past volunteering days.

A Fresh Coat (and a Bit of Elbow Grease)

The team wasted no time getting stuck in. They picked up paintbrushes and refreshed our fences and garden furniture, giving everything a much-needed spruce-up. It’s a job that makes a big difference - brightening up the space and helping everything last longer through the seasons.

Tidying Things Up

With hedges trimmed and pathways cleared, the gardens were looking much neater by the end of the day. And of course, there was weeding - lots of it. The team helped clear out the beds and borders so the plants we do want can shine.

Compost That’s Ready to Go

They also spent time sieving decomposed compost from our composter bays which is a great way to recycle garden waste into something we can use again. The resulting peat-free compost will now help our plants thrive in raised beds and be used to pot up our next lot of plants grown from seed and cuttings. All the garden waste from the days activities was also shredded and placed in the composter to start the cycle again.

Progress in the New Garden

Over by the new Community Diagnostics building, we’ve been getting a fresh garden space off the ground. The volunteers helped fill our new self-watering planters making sure all the plants get the care they need to grow and beautify the space.

A Big Thank You

We’re really grateful for the time, effort, and positive energy the NFU Mutual team brought along. Their ongoing support helps keep our green spaces in great shape and we’re always happy to have them back.

“Creating a visual impact to a space that benefits so many people was really rewarding and to do it whilst catching up with colleagues and being outdoors made it even better”
